6. Big Fun is a study in taking off. It's a heavier album in many ways than Bitches Brew and is more entertaining to listen to. It utilized much more of Teo's production prowess and incorporated the studio as creative tool in a way that probably only "In a Silent Way" or "On the Corner" had done previously.

7. The second album in the set features "Go Ahead John," an outtake from Jack Johnson's sessions that is 28 minutes in length. It's a riff-based groover, with McLaughlin and his wah-wah pedal setting the pace with Steve Grossman on soprano.

8. Musically, Big Fun sounds like a jazz mixtape; with each song the personnel changes so any sembelance of continuity is non-exsistant. If you are familar with Bitches Brew or any other Davis production from the period, you will recognize that Big Fun is essentially outtakes edited into new songs.
